Early Lead For NASC Bears Green Seals Fate For Wangaratta Rangers Black

Wangaratta Rangers Black watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 13-7 loss to NASC Bears Green on Sunday. NASC Bears Green scored on a double by Tom Simmons and an error in the first inning.

Wangaratta collected nine hits and NASC Bears Green had 14 in the high-scoring affair.

In the first inning, NASC Bears Green got their offense started. NASC Bears Green scored one run when Simmons doubled.

Wangaratta Rangers Black scored four runs in the fifth inning. Rangers batters contributing to the big inning included Ross Johnson, Damien French, and Aaron Parker, all driving in runs in the frame.

NASC Bears Green scored five runs in the fourth inning. NASC Bears Green’s big inning was driven by singles by Brendon Simmons and Jono Sassella and an error on a ball put in play by Simmons.

Simmons earned the win for NASC Bears Green. They allowed eight hits and five runs over five innings, striking out six. Simmons threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Simmons recorded the last six outs to earn the save for NASC Bears Green.

Owen Godenzi took the loss for Wangaratta Rangers Black. They allowed 14 hits and 13 runs over seven innings, striking out five.

Wangaratta Rangers Black racked up nine hits on the day. Bryan Wilson and Tetsu Kamamyiaeach collected multiple hits for Wangaratta. Wilson led Wangaratta Rangers Black with three hits in four at bats.

NASC Bears Green racked up 14 hits in the game. David Ivic, Chris Hutchinson, Simmons, Mark Taylor, and Simmons each had multiple hits for NASC Bears Green.
